Apple Schedules 2024 iPad Event on May 7th: OLED iPads Incoming
Apple recently announced it was going to hold an event on May 7th and odds are that it will mark the introduction of the very first OLED iPads. There have been rumors online about such devices for a while now, but things are getting official.
Bloomberg unveiled ever since March that Apple had started manufacturing new iPads with an early May debut in the cards. A new Apple Pen could also appear, especially judging by the invite that Apple sent out. The motto of the event is “Let Loose” and it all starts at 10 AM EDT, which is 7 am on the West Coast, where Apple has its HQ.
Apple is expected to debut the first two iPads with OLED displays, one with an 11 inch screen and the other with a 12.9 incher. Inside we’ll find the M3 3 nanometer chip and they will also come with landscape-oriented cameras. MagSafe wireless charging has also been mentioned a bunch, but we can’t quite bet on that 100%.
The used of OLED may increase the price of the slates quite a bit. Also on May 7th we’re expecting to see a 12.9 inch version of the iPad Air for the first time. Usually it’s just a 10.9 inch tablet. The iPad Air models will be powered by a 5 nanometer M2 chip and we’ll also get a landscape oriented camera, the front facing one.
New iPad accessories are incoming and the new stylus is said to get a “squeeze” gesture, used to add stickers, shapes, signatures or text. A new Magic Keyboard should also make the cut.
