iPad Mini 2024 Launched: Apple A17 Pro Processor, More Storage

Apple just launched a new product, without a Fall event, the new iPad Mini 2024. This new model gets an improved processor, more storage and improved connectivity. The new iPad Mini was launched with a mere press release.

The processor available here, Apple A17 Pro debuted last year on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The last iPad mini was launched in 2021, while the new one should get Apple Intelligence, with the iPadOS 18.1 update. Aside from the new CPU, the iPad Mini starts off at 128 GB storage, from the previous low limit of 64 GB. Updated connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, a faster USB-C 3.1 Gen2 port.

There’s also support for the Apple Pencil Pro stylus and the tablets are available in a new blue color, aside from the Purple, Starlight and Space Gray hues. The other specs stay much the same, including an 8.3 inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD with a resolution of 2266 x 1488 pixels and 3:2 aspect ratio. The refresh rate is capped at 60 Hz, sadly. We also get the same 12 MP cameras front and back, as the previous models, but also an improved ISP from the A15 Pro chip and support for Smart HDR 4.

Even the good old Touch ID makes the cut, for biometric unlocks and app purchases, plus the same 19.3 Whr battery, which is good enough for 10 hours of browsing or video watching. I’m shocked to also see a 20W USB-C power adapter bundled. We get a Smart Folio Case for $59.

The iPad Mini (2024) starts at a price tag of $499 for the Wi-Fi 128 GB model. The cellular one is $649. Sales start on October 23rd.
