ASUS quits smartphones, but not Android: Pad T3201 packs a 144Hz OLED and begins its global expansion

ASUS may be leaving the smartphone business behind, but Android still has a place in its portfolio. The ASUS Pad (T3201), unveiled at Computex 2026, has already reached India and is now going on sale in China, suggesting that a wider international rollout could follow.

The tablet is priced at 3,999 yuan in China for the 256GB version, or roughly €480. Its main attraction is a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with 2800 × 1840 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 3:2 aspect ratio and up to 2,000 nits brightness. Inside sits the MediaTek Dimensity 8300, paired with 8GB or 16GB of physical LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage, expandable via microSD up to 1TB.

ASUS Pad also packs a 9,000mAh battery with 45W charging, four Dolby Atmos speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4. It runs Android 16, measures just 6.5mm thick and weighs around 523 grams. There is also stylus support, making the combination of a 3:2 OLED panel and relatively powerful hardware particularly interesting for productivity and multitasking.

There is no confirmed wider European launch yet, but ASUS has created a global product page and regional pages for parts of Europe, suggesting that the tablet is not intended exclusively for Asia. At around €500-600, it could become an interesting alternative to Samsung, Lenovo and Xiaomi.
